Anita Kissée

Hello! Anita Kissée here - thanks for visiting my profile.

I’m a reporter for KATU and specialize in urban issues and city government.  When it comes to politics, I love to read about it, write about it and debate it.  But PLEASE: don’t ask for whom I voted or my party affiliation.  I’m a journalist – I can’t tell you that!

I’ve been a part of the KATU team since 2005 after surviving stints at television stations in places like Fresno, CA, and Boise, ID.   If it seems like I wasn’t on TV for a while, you’re right!  In 2009, KATU granted me a sabbatical to attend Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.  After toughening up a bit in NYC, I’m happy to be back in Portland’s kinder, gentler version of the big city: The Pearl.

When I’m not in the newsroom, find me in the kitchen or craft room.  “Martha-Want-To-Be” here bakes cupcakes almost too gorgeous to eat.  For that, I thank my grandmothers, who also cultivated my love for gardening.  My mother passed down an obsession for hot glue guns, knitting needles and sewing machines.  When it comes to my latest hobbies, a 1964 Vespa and my pug Sigmund, I only have myself to blame.  I also enjoying dragon boating on the Willamette with "The Castaways," volunteering with "Dress for Success," hiking, leisurely bike rides, farmers' markets and traveling just about anywhere.
